Report: Jony Ive gets promoted to Chief Design Officer at Apple

Thanks to a story in the U.K. newspaper The Telegraph, we now know that Jony Ive has received a promotion from SVP of Design at Apple, to Chief Design Officer. The promotion of the man responsible for the design of so many Apple products including the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, was revealed by British author, actor, outspoken tech critic and man-about-town Stephen Fry. The latter is best known for his long-time collaboration with the pre-House Hugh Laurie.

While not much information is known about Ive's new duties, he will continue to have the final say on all hardware and UI designs. ...
